DESCRIPTION:Yoga at Shrine Mont is very notable this year.  Shrine Mont is 100 years old and everything planned this year is extra special.  The Simply Yoga Retreat marks its 9th year and each retreat held at Shrine Mont has been different and awesome because we always have wonderful people who attend.  Shrine Mont offers hiking and space for contemplative strolls\, a labyrinth\, pure mineral spring water\, and nourishing and delicious\, homestyle southern meals. Chefs are also able to accommodate vegetarians and gluten free diets. \nThis year the theme is  “Deep Relaxation” – let the movement and stillness of yoga and meditation relax your body and your mind. Attendees will participate in activities that take the angst out of arranging and showcase techniques that make the process both easier and more fun. Emphasis will be on using local\, readily available flowers\, greens\, and line material. \n\nFloral design demonstrations\nFlower conditioning tips and information about how to work with particular fresh plant materials\nHands-on activities organized around themes like “Starting with Sticks\,” “No Flowers Allowed\,” and “Incorporating Veggies and Fruit”\nArranging to interesting prompts like wallpaper\, paintings\, posters\nVase exchange\, Happy Hours and much\, much more!\n\nThe Instructors\nNancy Ross Hugo and David Pippin\nNancy Ross Hugo is an outdoor writer\, lecturer\, and floral designer who has been gardening in Virginia for over 30 years. Nancy is known to many Virginians as the author of gardening columns for the Richmond Times-Dispatch and for her floral design workshops at Flower Camp in Buckingham County. Nancy is the author five books including Earth Works: Readings for Backyard Gardeners\, Remarkable Trees of Virginia\, Seeing Trees\, Trees Up Close\, and Windowsill Art. \nDavid Pippin is well-known in Richmond’s horticultural world. DESCRIPTION:  \nAs part of Shrine Mont’s Centennial Celebration\, we will be honoring those who are in the Transfiguration Society with our first annual Transfiguration Society Dinner to celebrate their generosity in naming Shrine Mont in their estate plans. \nSpecial Guest Bruce Wallinger will tell the story of Shrine Mont’s acquisition of the Orkney Spring Hotel.  Bruce served as Shrine Mont’s attorney and worked with Wilmer Moomaw\, Bishop Robert Hall and the Shrine Mont Board on the transaction. He literally had a front row seat for the negotiations\, document drafting\, and the nail-biting final vote. \nThe Transfiguration Society was founded in 2005\, and it serves to recognize those who have included Shrine Mont in their estate plans.
